Young Thug recently confirmed the release date for the sequel to his 2018 YSL compilation album, Slime Language. After announcing that Slime Language 2 is on the way three days ago, Thugger has provided more details on the project. “Slime Language 2 dropping on Black Friday! 11.27.2020”, wrote young SEX.

The YSL boss first announced Slime Language 2 towards the end of July this year. He tweeted that the project would be dropping on 16th of August, but it failed to arrive on that day. The first installment of the Slime Language series was released in August 2018. The album featured several YSL artists like Gunna, Duke, HiDoraah, Dolly, and Tracy T, Lil Keed, Nechie and other artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Jacquees, and more.

Thugger took to Instagram Stories to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the operations, where he zoomed in on a whiteboard while everyone around him talked about “dropping” and “Black Friday.” He asks for the release date again, to which someone confirms with “Black Friday,” and they continue to talk about what could happen after.

Slime Language 1 dropped in August 2018 and featured YSL signees Lil Duke, Gunna, Strick, Dolly, HiDoraah and Karlae, along with the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Keed, Nechie, Lil Baby and Jacquees. Young Thug followed up the compilation album with his On the Rvn EP a month later, then his debut studio album So Much Fun on August 2019. The latter marks his last solo release as of writing, dropping the collaborative Slime & B mixtape with Chris Brown this May 2020.

Back in July, Thug hinted that Slime Language 2 would drop on his birthday, Aug. 16. But the tweet was quickly deleted.

The original compilation was released in August 2018 and featured Young Stoner Life Records artists including Gunna, Duke, HiDoraah, Dolly, and Tracy T, along with appearances from Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Jacquees, and more.

It’s tempting to say that it’s been a while since we heard from Young Thug, but in reality, he delivered a full studio album in September 2019’s So Much Fun. To make things even more interesting, he also promised the release of his new album Punk at some point, though news on that particular project has ground to a halt. In any case, that’s not to say that Thugger is taking a complete leave of absence. He’s actually be putting in work on the upcoming Slime Language 2, a follow-up to the 2018 YSL compilation project.

And while the project has been plagued by red herring release dates in the past, only to be delayed in the eleventh hour, it would appear that Young Thug is finally looking to share Slime Language 2 to the world. In a recent video clip from his IG story, Thugger provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the YSL boardroom, during a meeting seemingly focused on the upcoming compilation drop. In the clip, Thug focuses on a white-board while muttering “Black Friday.” Upon asking for confirmation as to when it will drop, Thugger appears to receive confirmation that Black Friday is indeed the intended date.

While some fans might be slightly distraught that Thug’s next release won’t be the long-awaited Punk after all, it should certainly be interesting to see what the YSL label has been up to. And based on what we can make out in this clip, Slime Language 2 may very well be landing on November 27th

On his Instagram story, he was behind the camera showing fans a whiteboard with a working tracklist and album notes. Around him, fellow rappers and musicians were talking about a drop on Black Friday. As they are talking, Thug chimes in to reaffirm the date, asking them when the drop is to which they respond, “Black Friday.” The retail holiday is set to fall on November 27 this year; hopefully, Thug keeps his word and brings fans Slime Language 2 at the end of next month.
